Six months - 12/21/05

12/21/05 - the winter solstice, six months after receiving our bulding permit, five months after groundbreaking. Here's the six-month report. The first winter storms have hit the coast: the rainy season has arrived. The construction is in its late phases. The exterior of the house was almost completed before the rains - we needed another week. The roof is on, most of the windows are in (a few had to be sent back), the driveway is ready to be poured, the siding will go up in a few clear days. After that, exterior painting can begin if the weather is kind to us. All of the rough plumbing is in, and the drainage system is in. The electricians are wiring the house, after which the sheetrocking can start. The cabinets will arrive in 3-4 weeks. After that, the radiant heat will be installed, then the flooring. Maybe in 6-8 week we can paint the interior then start moving in after that!

12/16/05. The roofers have arrived. (It's supposed to rain the next day!) Notice that they can drive their truck onto the (still unpaved) parking deck. Alfonso and Miguel are mixing & pouring the cement base of the driveway curb.

It's raining so the construction crew went home. However, the electricians are wiring like mad.
